Chris Theo heads to this weekend’s Spring Nationals at Adelaide International Raceway well and truly on a high after taking out his first ever event victory three weeks ago.

Theo broke through for his maiden victory at Mildura’s Sunset Strip Nationals (September 23/24), claiming the Top Sportsman honours in what was only his third event in the bracket.

This Saturday, Competition Bike will make a return to Adelaide International Raceway for the first time in three years as part of the weekend’s Spring Nationals – round four of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

Amongst the field will be local racer and 1991 Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion, Phil ‘Blue’ Howard.

After destroying an engine just weeks ago, defending Supercharged Outlaws champion Adam Murrihy was faced with a daunting task to be ready for next weekend’s Spring Nationals: round four of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

Thanks to the tireless efforts and support of his crew, engine builder and friends and family, the two-time champion has confirmed he will line-up at the October 14 event in Adelaide as he looks to chase a third consecutive championship.

Simon Barlow might not have come away with a Modified win at the weekend’s Sunset Strip Nationals in Mildura, but he did break both ends of the Eighth Mile A/MD national record.

A 4.425 second/159.19 mile per hour effort during day two of what was round three of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series saw the 48-year-old truck driver from Adelaide rewrite the record books.

Jim Ioannidis

After an exceptionally windy start to the weekend saw an altered schedule for today’s running, the Sunset Strip Nationals – round three of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series – has concluded in style at Mildura’s Sunset Strip this afternoon.

Jim Ioannidis (SuperComp), Graeme Cooper (DENSO Super Street), Leon Davies (Super Sedan), Graeme Spencer (Super Gas), Gordon Crawford (Modified Bike), Chris Theo (Top Sportsman), Wade Kisyma (Modified), Bradley Bishop (Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster) and Tim Stewart (Supercharged Outlaws) all took victory today in their respective classes.

Mildura Sunset StripFollowing heavy winds in the Mildura (VIC) region today, qualifying for the Sunset Strip Nationals has been suspended ahead of a resumption tomorrow (Sunday 24 September).

The decision comes as Mildura and its surrounding areas are battered by heavy winds, with the gusts causing dust to be continously blown onto the track to create unsafe conditions for racing.

Sydney brothers Jackson and Samuel Perri will lead the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster Championship field to Mildura this weekend as the title chase’s third round gets underway with the Sunset Strip Nationals this Saturday and Sunday (September 23/24).

After facing off against each other in the finals at round two (Alice Spring’s Desert Nationals), 15-year-old Jackson currently leads his 13-year-old brother on the points standings by just 10 points.

Ahead of this weekend’s round three of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series at Mildura’s Sunset Strip, performance parts leader PROFLOW has thrown its support behind back-to-back Australian Top Sportsman Championship winner, Jason Stares.

Is Johnny Kapiris Australia’s greatest Super Sedan sportsman racer? If you look at his results you would have to agree. Four-straight ANDRA championship titles from 2013 to 2016 is an impressive streak in anyone’s eyes.

It’s been a while since we have seen the Supercharged Outlaw dragster of Victorian Ryan Van Dyk. His last appearance was the 2017 Australian Nationals at Calder Park, and now he’s back for some more excitement in his first points round of the 2017/18 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

Mark Hunt is certainly one of the real characters in our sport. He’s a big man and can look quite intimidating, he drives a bright yellow Supercharged Outlaw Ford Customine, and his passion for drag racing is 110 percent.

Well, it may have started out with chilly temperatures on the morning of the event, but the racers added plenty of heat to Round 2 of the Summit Racing Queensland Championship.

One of the more “spectacular” cars at Rd 1 of the Summit Racing Queensland Championship was the relatively new Supercharged Outlaws Corvette driven by Mark Eves.

In the early years of drag racing, it was common to see car clubs and mates get together and pool their resources to go racing. Times may have changed today, however for Queensland mates Savos Pandelakis and Shane Turley, they have partnered up to go racing just like the pioneers did in the 1960’s.
