One of the most popular drivers in the ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship Series is hanging up the helmet, but for the fans of the Holden Trade Club Monaro, the iconic racecar will continue to compete at the highest level of Australian drag racing.

It wasn’t a great weekend for Aussies at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio last weekend.

For the first time in the ANDRA Drag Racing Series, Hidden Valley Drag Strip will host not one but two Top Doorslammer Championship rounds as the 2015/2016 season kicks off July 17-18.

One of Australia’s most successful and well-respected drag racing teams, Lamattina Top Fuel Racing has decided to withdraw from championship competition after achieving three championships and numerous accolades during more than 10 years running their team at the pinnacle of the sport.

Top Fuel driver and team owner Mark Mariani is looking forward to the future of Drag Racing in Australia, and the second generation racer is doing everything within his reach to ensure the future success of his fledgling Top Fuel team.

Their first event of the new season may still be two weeks away, but the O’Rourke Motorsport transporter, race vehicles and team patriarch Grant O’Rourke have already arrived in the area ready to do their part to promote their sport ahead of the 17-18 July event.

John Kapiris is now a three-time ANDRA Super Sedan champion following a runner up placing at the recent Fuchs Winternationals.

Chris Matheson’s Top Fuel Nitro Harley Team was aiming for second position but ended the 2015 ANDRA Drag Racing Series in third on 203 points, just 11 points behind closest rival Chris Porter on 214.

On a hot, steamy Sunday at Bristol Dragway, Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster driver Richie Crampton and crew chief Aaron Brooks stayed cool, and Crampton scored a triumphant victory at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.

While providing an exciting and action filled spectacular for more than 35,000 fans recently, the Fuchs Winternationals also saw a flurry of National and track records broken across a wide range of drag racing classes.

At the recent Fuchs Winternationals, Graeme Spencer ended a nine-year drought taking out his second Super Gas championship in an exciting final round of the 2015 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.
