The Victoria/Tasmania Division will be holding a tech day open to all members requiring a tech inspection, free of charge.

The long awaited opening of Swan Hill Dragway; Australia’s newest quarter mile drag strip in regional Victoria, is edging closer with entries set to open for the Race for Pride on October 8-9th.

Drag racing is more a team sport than most people imagine. It takes a small army of dedicated souls behind the scenes to bring a race vehicle to the track – especially if it happens to burn nitro.

Benny Phillips is one of the many FIFO workers in Darwin, far away from his home in Victoria. But he has taken advantage of his work situation this year by bringing his Holden Torana with him to go racing at Hidden Valley Drag Strip.

For the first time ever last month, the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series visited Hidden Valley Drag Strip in Darwin.

The Warrnambool and District Drag Racing Association has issued the following update regarding the recent decision by Moyne Shire to withdraw it's support from a permanent drag strip at the old Koroit racecourse.

Michael Fotheringham has advised the Board that he will be standing down from the Board due to work commitments. His term as Chairman will expire at the end of July 2016.

ANDRA wishes to announce Licencing/Membership Officer Leanne Wright will be leaving to pursue new opportunities after over 11 years at the organisation.

Leanne came to ANDRA on a traineeship and has worked her way up to Licencing/Membership Officer.

Racer/Crew Chief Aaron Hambridge and sports media personality Lachlan Wills have joined the ANDRA Drag Racing commentary team on SBS Speedweek.

The second leg of the “Central Swing” was a clean sweep for 9 times Champion John Zappia – Top Qualifying and winning the Desert Nationals in Alice Springs, while picking up Low ET, Top Speed and resetting the track 1/8 mile ET and MPH records.

Earlier this week it was with sadness ANDRA learned of the passing of former South Australian Division Director Harry White.

Harry was a loved member of the drag racing community retiring as SA Division Director in 2012 following 22 years in the position. 

His involvement in drag racing dates all the way back to the early days of racing at Brooksfield Dragway and later Adelaide International Raceway. But what many people may not know is that just prior to getting behind the wheel, Harry was called up to serve in Vietnam. 

Upon his return after serving his country with distinction, Harry played a significant role in the formation and operation of the South Australian Drag Racers Association and spent time with ANDRA as the Executive Director and membership of the National Executive Committee, assisting with the operation of the Australian Drag Racing Promoters Association conferences on numerous occasions.
