This Saturday (November 6), the WA Drag Racing Championship will once again roar into life as the 2021/2022 drag racing season at the Perth Motorplex officially begins.

The opening event of the season will host not only intense competition for the WA Drag Racing Championship but also fire breathing Jet Dragsters and round one of the Supercharged Summer Slam Series.

Paul Trengove, the Commercial and Operations Manager for venue operator, Evolve Facilities Management, said a great season lies ahead.

“We are absolutely looking forward to an action-packed drag racing season here at the Perth Motorplex, starting with this weekend’s opening round of both the WA Drag Racing Championship and the Supercharged Summer Slam Series,” Trengove said.

“Firstly, it is just fantastic that ANDRA has relaunched a truly national drag racing championship for Top Doorlsammer and Top Fuel Motorcycle with the Australian Drag Racing Championship (ADRC), which is running alongside the hugely popular Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series (SRESS).

“The Perth Motorplex community is extremely excited to play a key part in both of these Series’, with our Goldenstates and Westernationals events.

“The Westernationals will also include the recently announced return of Top Fuel racing to Western Australia in March of 2022 as part of the new Top Fuel Australia Championship – we believe this will truly reignite huge excitement in the motorsport world.

“This season will also see plenty of exciting racing from our very own Top Doorslammer series – the Supercharged Summer Slam – as well as the newly branded Nitro Max Series which features incredible Nitro-powered cars to the delight of drag racing fans.

“And that’s not all – our season is full of exciting events bringing the full gamut of drag racing entertainment to the Perth Motorplex quarter-mile in 2022. Be sure to stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for event information as the season unfolds.”
