Queensland’s Steve Read will return to where his nitro career began when the ANDRA Top Fuel season launches at Adelaide International Raceway on October 20.

Read’s first event in a Top Fuel dragster was driving for team owner Santo Rapisarda at the South Australian venue back in the nineties and he said he has positive memories of the experience.

The October 20 season opener for the 2012/13 ANDRA Drag Racing Series will see the return of the Pro Stock championship to Adelaide for the first time in over a decade, with a group of local racers keen to show off their skills in front of the South Australian audience.

For Virginia resident Arthur Kolaroff, it will mean a tow of just minutes, compared to the days it normally takes him to reach Sydney or Brisbane to compete with his Carisma Potato-supported Pontiac.

Aeroflow Performance Products and the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) are proud to announce that Aeroflow will be the new naming rights sponsor for the ANDRA Sportsman Drag Racing Series.

Formerly known as the Rocket Allstars Racing Series, the series will now be known as the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

The partnership with Rocket paid out some $300,000 to racers over six seasons and Aeroflow Performance Products managing director Graeme Cowin said he was thrilled about the announcement for the new branding of the series.

The ANDRA Drag Racing Series will see a new team entering the fray in Top Fuel this season with Peter Xiberras’s Sydney-based PremiAir outfit to make its debut with Luke Shepherd doing the driving duties.

Shepherd said that the team wants to contest all the rounds if possible, with only the opening round in Adelaide currently in doubt as the team waits for some final parts for their arsenal to arrive.

With the ANDRA championship off season currently in play, Australia's Top Doorslammer teams aren't resting on their laurels, continuing to compete in the national Slamfest series which takes in eighth mile tracks from around the country and now the quarter mile Hidden Valley for the first time.
