Two weeks ago John Kapiris wrapped up his second consecutive Australian Super Sedan Championship at the Fuchs Spring Nationals in his hometown of Adelaide.

A first round elimination wasn’t quite how he wanted to do it but the nephew of Peter Kapiris was relieved to square away the title with one round remaining, the Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway October 31 – November 2.

“It feels very good to sit back and go to a race meeting knowing all I have to do is race, not chase points for a Championship,” he said.

“Winning the second one was harder because you don’t need to show that your cutting good lights and running.

“Consistent people rock up next to you and every one wants to be the one that took out number 1 so as much as I have had red lights, I have had four zeros cut on me as well.

“I will always look at every meeting as fun but winning is the best feeling, going home with that trophy.

“But I can look at the Nationals as a meeting not pressuring myself to make sure I don’t lose my whole season in one round and like a good friend and long time racer said to me, the biggest meeting and the most prestigious meeting out of them all is the Nationals.”

After taking out back-to-back titles, Kapiris isn’t looking to make large wholesale changes for 2015 but he does have his eye on another double if he can secure the support he needs to run in dual Championships.

“The HQ will stay the same after 376 passes. I will look at a few things but power-wise she will be as she is and like a Super Stock racer told me, you don’t want to upset the apple cart.

“I have wanted to step back a class and run Super Street but not having a crew is the only reason why I haven’t yet because I will want to run both cars as its tos hard to step out of the Super Sedan car.

“But in saying that if all goes well I might have a few people next year coming on board and it might be a reality not a dream.

“I would like to say thank you to all my sponsors, friends and family, all ANDRA officials, all the tracks around the country, spectators and all competitors.”

Titles will be decided and Champions will be crowned when the season deciding Australian Nationals take over Sydney Dragway October 31 – November 2.
