A total of 20 national drag racing records were set at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway over the weekend, including the oldest record on the Australian National Drag Racing Association books.

Jamie Prothero took his humble D/Modified Bike to a 10.23 and a 135.08mph speed pass which surpassed the 26 year old mark set by Henderson & Shearer at Calder Park.

It wasn’t the only older record to fall, with Graham Hullah claiming both time and speed for C/Modified Dragster. The speed record had stood since 1994.

The ANDRA pro categories were responsible for five new records alone with John Zappia resetting the Top Doorslammer mark for the second time in as many events, while Peter Ridgeway’s stunning 6.99 in Pro Stock is now etched in history.

Meanwhile one record went overseas with the USA’s Brandon Huhtala earning the B/Gas marks for time and speed.
