Queensland local Steven Ham will be making the 12 hour journey to Sydney Dragway next weekend to compete in round five of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

Ham has a bunch of RARS points to his credit but plans on using the Sydney meeting as a testing ground for the East Coast Lubes/Mobil 1 Top Alcohol Funny Car.

A myriad of changes have been made to the car’s chassis and engine setup that require more valuable track time ahead of ANDRA Pro Series 1000 in Adelaide on April 13, 14 and 15.

“The opportunity to test the Funny Car again in Sydney was too good to pass up and with ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer and Pro Stock on hand, good track conditions should be on the cards. It’s as close as we can get to real racing conditions,” Ham said.

Ham will be driving in Competition eliminator, which not only adds to the field but provides another opportunity to keep the East Coast Lubes car in front of race fans.

“With it not being a fully fledged ANDRA Pro Series Top Alcohol round, the atmosphere is a little more relaxed, which is good for the fans that can come down and have a good close up look at a 3500 horsepower Funny Car,” he said. “But we’re certainly not going to be taking the opportunity to race in the Competition division lightly.”

The ANDRA Pro Series featuring Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and the Rocket Allstars Racing Series is held on March 24 and 25 at Sydney Dragway.

Qualifying (Saturday) and racing (Sunday) both begin from 10am and tickets cost $35, with two day passes available for just $60.
