Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton today announced a $10,000 grant to the Central Australian Drag Racing Association to support the club hosting the NT Quarter Mile Titles.

Mr Hampton said the NT drag racing titles would be held at the Alice Springs Inland Dragway on October 2nd and 3rd, attracting a host of local and national racers.

“It promises to be a weekend of fast cars, fast bikes and burning rubber with some of the top names in drag racing on show,” Mr Hampton said. “I understand CADRA will be inviting some of Australia’s top racers, Steven and Debbie Reed, to participate in the titles. “The event is also expected to attract drag racers from Darwin, South Australia and Queensland, as well as our local Alice Springs speed kings and queens.

“I’m very proud to be able to support drag racing in the Northern Territory. “This Government invested $1 million in building the Alice Springs Dragway and it’s great to see it is attracting top-line events and competitors.”
