Steve Norman isn’t happy with his performance this season, but coming into the Australian Nationals at Sydney Drag Way this weekend, he is only 20 points away from Jake Chaisty and Mario Barbon in the chase for Super Stock supremacy.

A couple of 60 point hauls in Alice Springs and Mildura has helped catapult Norman into third in the Championship.

That sets the stage for an intriguing battle with Chaisty and Barbon as Les Heintz and Clint George look to pounce should the top three find themselves on the wrong side of the win light.

“Mario and me are pretty close performance wise,” said Norman. “Jake is at an advantage with a new index. Les is always a dark horse.

“My driving has been pretty bloody ordinary all year. I will need to address that to have any show at the title.

“Sydney has always been pretty good for us and this year is as close as we have been to a title.

“I have five bridesmaid trophies at home and I am over that!”

Don’t miss the action as titles will be decided and Champions will be crowned when the season deciding Australian Nationals take over Sydney Dragway October 31 – November 2.

Qualifying for the Aerolfow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship gets underway on Friday October 31st from 9am with eliminations to commence from 10am on Saturday November 1 and continue through Sunday November 2 from 9:45am.
