In his 2017 American Pro Stock debut, Shane Tucker outlasted the competition and will have his chance to claim victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals on Sunday.

In Friday’s first session, Tucker crossed the finish line with a 6.829-seconds at 201.67 mph. The Auzmet Architectural Chevrolet Camaro team returned for Friday’s night session with an improved 6.803, 202.27.

On Saturday, the team stepped up their performance once again with a 6.758, 204.14. The white and light blue fan favourite Chevrolet Camaro closed out qualifying with a consistent 6.783, 204.63.

“I guess we were being very realistic coming in with our own power and what we could achieve this weekend,” Tucker said. “Our first goal was to qualify and our second goal was to try to improve every run and I think we accomplished both of those things.”

No. 15 Tucker will race Erica Enders, Alex Laughlin and Tanner Gray in the first quad of eliminations tomorrow.

“This Four-Wide is so unpredictable and wide-open,” Tucker admitted. “I’m really happy with my driving this weekend and I think I’ve got my plan for tomorrow. I think the track will come to us and it should be a little tighter. If I can have a .00-second reaction time, I think I’ll have a chance.”
