Scott Porter will return to the driver’s seat of his Pro Stock Ford GT Mustang when the ANDRA Drag Racing Series visits Benaraby Raceway for the very first time this Friday and Saturday October 3-4.

The West Mackay resident is excited to compete in a National event so close to home before giving up his ride for American fiancé Grace Howell at the Australian Nationals. The pair is to be married in early 2015.

“We are really looking forward to racing at Benaraby as it will be great to show a presence of Pro Stock in Central Queensland as there is such a large drag racing fan base up here,” he said.

“The opportunity for ANDRA to host a race in the area will certainly tap into a new market and further solidify racing participation from a region that holds many cars already.

“I have heard that the track is very impressive for a regional track and can’t wait to see what it can take from the Pro Stock cars since the last time that I raced there was ten years ago in a Super Sedan car.”

The Benaraby Nationals serves as the penultimate round of the Australian Pro Stock Championship before the Australian Nationals closes the season at Sydney Dragway October 31 – November 2 at which point, Howell take over driving duties.

“While I’m excited to get back in the car to get a feel for it again, Grace is a better driver and I enjoy working on the car, tuning shocks and engines.

“She will be back in the car for Sydney which will be great as she hasn’t raced there before. As for 2015, we can’t wait to make a run for the Championship.

“We will be getting married in the first part of the year and it will be awesome to be the only husband and wife team competing together in Pro Stock.

The Benaraby Nationals featuring Pro Stock and the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship begins this Friday October 3 at Benaraby Raceway near Gladstone and continues on Saturday October 4.
