8 Spetember 2011

The penultimate round of the 2011 Track Championship Series at Hidden Valley Drag Strip is set to kick off this Saturday. With several well attended brackets going down to the wire, competition is set to be fierce with qualifying kicking off from 3pm.

One young lady who will be hard to beat is Jodie Coles who has developed an unassailable lead, netting a finals berth in all four rounds this year and jumping 50 points clear of her rookie counterpart, Caitlin Burt in the Junior Dragster bracket. Coles is also in the running for the overall Champion of Champions award for the most accrued points of any bracket however Street Bike competitor, Geoff Hawkins, and Super Sedan driver, Allan Arthus, are only 20 points behind.

Arthus is sitting in one of the most secure positions, only needing a finals berth in one of the next two events to secure his season victory, but with 30 points on offer for a win in each of the two remaining rounds for 2011, there is still a chance for Wayne Harris to take out the top spot in the Super Sedan bracket.

The Modified Bike bracket has also been opened up after this week’s retirement of equal leader, Robert Harrison after suffering an ongoing hip injury. This leaves Jabiru based Dave Denner with a 25 point lead over Suzuki rider Leith Darrach.
