Michelle was born to race. It’s in her family, in her blood and in her DNA. This weekend at the 46th Westernationals, Michelle is returning to the driver’s seat after a couple of years away from racing and is super excited to be competing again in her Modified dragster.

“I have missed driving the race car, but with the focus moving to my husband Andrew and the “Beach Bomb” Outlaw Nitro Funny Car, I decided to step out of the seat and concentrate on his dream. Life has been busy work wise also as I was working on a team that commissioned a new hospital in Perth, lecturing at University and undertaking post graduate studies” , Michelle said.

“I’ve been driving since I was 11 years old and here I am now 28 and still as passionate about this sport as ever before. I’ve missed it, but very much looking forward to jumping back in the seat and catching up with my fellow racers”.

Today, while Michelle worked, Andrew and James Rowland took the dragster out to Perth Motorplex for the Westernationals test and tune. “We had freshened up the engine and also gave her some new shoes (slicks). I gave permission for both of them to have a drive, but with strict instructions to bring her back in one-piece so I can have a go on the weekend”, smiled Michelle.

But if that’s not stressful enough Michelle and Andrew will be attending a wedding on Saturday evening. So after 4 qualifying sessions on Saturday its going to be a quick change out of the race suit into something more formal and then return on Sunday for another qualifier before eliminations kick off from 2.42pm AWST.

“I’m thrilled to be back driving again. We started the car up on Tuesday night and you just don’t realise how natural it all feels. I am looking forward to seeing all our friends, family and supporters again so please drop on by our pit area and say hi.”
