It’s with great pleasure that the Pro Stock Owners Association (PSOA) report that the 2011 Nitro Champs held at Sydney Dragway over the weekend April 29 – May 1 will be the largest ever Pro Stock field in ANDRA Pro Series history. As the entry list stands there are currently 25 entries for the event. The largest of the Group One fields for the event.

The Nitro Champs, which have traditionally been held at the beginning of May for several years now, is an event which has been known to produce record setting conditions due to the cool air and low altitude weather conditions.

“It’s exciting to be able to report that this event will feature the largest Pro Stock field ever seen in Australian Drag Racing History. Looking at the scheme of things, the entry list is larger than last weekend’s NHRA event in Charlotte, NC – the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Four Wide Nationals. It only just seemed like yesterday when the bracket struggled to get eight cars per event,” remarked Paul Porter, PSOA President.

Fortunately, for the many avid Pro Stock fans, entry lists of this size will continue due to the amount of races stepping up to Pro Stock from the sportsman ranks as well as several new cars that have just arrived or are very close to arriving to update current inventory.

“Hats off to all of the competitors, current and newcomers, that have made the investment in the Pro Stock category. I have full confidence that all stakeholders (team owners, drivers, sponsors and fans) will get value for their money. The bracket is undoubtedly, the most popular bracket in Australian Drag Racing at the moment,” said Porter.

For the last few seasons, the hottest talk within the ranks of Pro Stock has been when will the first illusive six second pass be turned in, with conditions like this, the 2011 Nitro Champs, has possibly the best chance of being etched into the Australian Drag Racing History Books.

“It’s common for many people to mention the six second milestone every time we front for an event. I know that there are many drivers that want to be able to say that they were the first to do it. With weather conditions providing for close side-by-side racing, the first six second pass is definitely not out of the question,” concluded Porter.
