Dean Jamieson will be on-track at Alice Springs Inland Dragway this weekend for the first time, with the Alice Springs Toyota Desert Nationals seeing him with major points on the line in both the ANDRA and NDRC title races.

The back-to-back ANDRA Modified Bike champion (2024 is chasing a third straight ANDRA crown in 2026/2027 while also fighting to retain his NDRC Sportsman title, making the Alice Springs Toyota Desert Nationals a crucial stop in both campaigns.

With the opening two rounds of the 2026/2027 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series and valuable NDRC points on offer across the August 29-30 double-header, Jamieson said the long trip from Casterton in Victoria was an easy decision.

“Alice Springs is important – with the double-header, and big points on offer for both the NDRC title and the ANDRA title, it was a no-brainer to go up there,” Jamieson said.

“It is definitely worth the trip, and hopefully we can make the most of it.”

Despite his recent success, Jamieson will arrive at Alice Springs Inland Dragway as a first-timer, but says the approach will remain unchanged.

“While this will be our first time in Alice Springs, we have heard a lot about the venue and the team and we are really looking forward to experiencing it,” he said.

“There aren’t any nerves, we will just do what we normally do – go in and take it as it comes, work our way through our processes, and do the best we can.”

Jamieson is looking forward to taking on a quality field in Modified Bike, with Bryan Finn and Derryn McGregor among the contenders set to line up in Alice Springs. Finn was tied with Jamieson on points heading into last season’s Grand Final, while McGregor was also firmly in the championship fight.

“There are a fair few handy riders going up this year, including Finn and McGregor,” Jamieson said. “I am expecting it to be very competitive.”

Jamieson has only been racing on the national scene for four years, but says his success has come from a simple focus on consistency.

“We are always doing the little things, focusing on the one-percenters, making sure everything is right,” he said.

“Dial-in racing is obviously about consistency and that is what we work towards, taking everything into account and having everything double-checked.

“Having great support around me plays a big part as well, so I want to thank my family, my fellow racers, Gavin Dohnt, and Vicky and Jerry from Casterton Top Shop for all of their support,” he said.
