Frank Marchese, running in the exhibition Outlaw Radial bracket at the Australian Nationals, has been awarded the Best Engineered Award for his seven-second Twin Turbo full-body XW Fairmont.

ANDRA Officials were suitably impressed by all aspects of the vehicle and wasted no time in awarding Marchese with the coveted trophy.

“It’s not that it’s a relatively sedate looking, full steel, full glass window, full interior car,” said ANDRA Technical Officer Colin Brassington.

“It’s not that it’s so well built and presented that Street Machine magazine made it a cover car.

“It’s not even that it runs 7s at close to 200 mph on 275-section radials. It’s all of these things.

“Frank and his team have pieced together an incredibly comprehensive and well-engineered car that impressed us everywhere we looked.

“The attention to detail is evident in every single area of the car, from the powertrain to the suspension to the presentation.”

The Best Engineered Award is given to the car or motorcycle judged to be the best engineered at select rounds of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series including the Australian Nationals.
