The race fans of Ipswich and its surrounds have turned out Wednesday night at Booval’s Burson Auto Parts store ahead of the start of the Fuchs Winternationals to meet two-time Top Fuel champion Phil Lamattina and seven-time Top Doorslammer champion John Zappia.

Burson Auto Parts are an official distributor of event sponsor Fuchs Lubricants, and are Australia’s trade specialist supplier of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories and workshop equipment.

Lamattina and Zappia were accompanied to the Brisbane Road store by Zappia’s Fuchs-sponsored Top Doorslammer, as well as promotional staff and the local Rotary Club in a perfect preamble to the largest drag racing event held outside of the United States.

“What great fun it has been tonight to meet some of the local race fans ahead of this week’s Fuchs Winternationals,” said Zappia.

“It is the biggest show in drag racing in this country and anywhere outside of the US, and as the finale for the national championship season it is going to be delivering thrilling racing across all four days.

“We can’t wait to get on track and take home that eighth Top Doorslammer national title and hopefully we can secure back-to-back Fuchs Winternationals victories while we are at it!”

The Fuchs Winternationals action will kick off with qualifying for the sportsman brackets tomorrow (Thursday 4 June) before all brackets are on track Friday through Sunday. For more information, schedules and entry lists please visit willowbankraceway.com.au
