The Dyson Family will be out in force this weekend for Round 2 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series at the East Coast Nationals in Sydney (November 7-8).

Father Neil and son Cory will both compete in the Modified bracket while Kathy (mother) and Warrick (son) will be pulling the strings behind the scenes.

“We very much enjoy going to events, sometimes only one of us may be racing so we help each other,” explains Neil. “My wife Kathy and other son Warrick always go so it is a nice family get together.”

With Dad racing regularly Cory was hooked on drag racing from a young age. Although he never raced in Junior Dragster he was always set on racing at some point in his future.

“I started young assisting Dad with his racing, I never raced juniors I waited until I was older and went straight into Modified after buying my own outfit,” he said. “Yes, it was always drag racing, I love it.”

Neil and Cory haven’t faced each other during eliminations yet but there will be plenty of opportunities coming up starting with the East Coast Nationals this weekend.

“Unfortunately we haven’t come up against each other in a round, only in a few qualifying runs,” Neil says. “We are both looking forward to the time when it does come up as there is some banter about who might win!”

The Dyson clan will not make the trip to the South Coast 660 in Portland Victoria the following weekend but two weeks later the Series moves to Warwick in Queensland (November 28-29) before returning to Victoria for Round 5 in Mildura (December 4-5) where they hope to race next.

“It’s fantastic that we now have more events to race at. It’s something we haven’t had for a long time so we will be attending as many as we can.”
