25 January 2011

Fifty five teams and a solid number of spectators made the trip to Coonawarra Dragway on January 23rd for Round Two of the Max Cranes Drag Racing Tri Series.

After a Runner Up finish at the Mildura round, Loxton’s Josh Voigt took the Coonawarra win, and the points lead in Modified over Wentworth’s Frank Boseley.

Three racers, Mildura’s Anne Jones, and Rodney Jackmann and Robert McDonald from Redcliffs share the Super Sedan lead on 180 point

Leader in Modified Bike after two rounds is Whyalla’s Archie Fabian, 40 points ahead of Adelaide rider Howard Browne.

After a win in Mildura and a semi final finish at Coonawarra, Whyalla driver Matt Shiell leads Junior Dragster by 20 points over Adelaide’s Melissa Piddington. Melissa’s sister Justine is back in fourth place behind Adelaide’s Michelle Donnelly, whose sister Kelly sits in sixth spot tied with Matt Shiell’s sister Emily. To say it’s a family affair in Junior Dragster may be an understatement. By the way, Sue Piddington, mother of Melissa and Justine, is third in Max Cranes Modified Eliminator.
