The 20th annual Jamboree lit up Willowbank Raceway at the weekend, with Rod Harvey punctuating the racing by becoming the quickest and fastest Sport Compact Car in the world with his performances in the Pro Turbo category.

Harvey, who has struggled recently with wiring issues, was able to run multiple quick passes, with his final run of the weekend – claiming him the win in Pro Turbo from George Rehayem – seeing him into the record books with a 6.410 second pass at 224.21 miles per hour (approx 358kmh).

Willowbank Raceway is pleased to announce a new concept in Street Series racing at the Ipswich facility – the Mid Week Masters.

Drivers over 40 years of age can use their own vehicle to compete against the clock, other drivers, or even their mates on one of the world's fastest drag strips, in the new monthly series that will get started on September 15th (see below for calendar of upcoming dates).

Stuart Bishop and his Diamond Doorslammer have completed a successful testing series at Willowbank Raceway August 17, 2010.

"The valuable data collected is imperative to our success in the season launch at the Australian Nationals in September" said Stuart Bishop. "It was a great day and felt fantastic to be back behind the wheel since the end of the last season".

Lamattina Top Fuel Racing is set to unveil its 2010/11 Championship fighter, pulling the covers off the new livery of the Fuchs Top Fuel Dragster at the Fuchs Australian Nationals.

The team's new sponsors Useasparky.com.au and Monster Energy Drinks will be prominent features in the new livery for the upcoming Season Launch.

Willowbank Raceway will host the 20th annual running of the world's largest Sport Compact Drag Racing event – the Jamboree - this weekend, Saturday and Sunday August 21 and 22.

Over two big days, a high-octane weekend of Sport Compact Drag Racing is planned, including a Show N Shine, Club Displays, Babes on Stage, Dance Shows, Car Audio Sound Off and Displays, Trader Displays and of course plenty of drag racing.

The NITRO! Nostalgia Nationals saw the return of State of Origin Wild Bunch Racing at the weekend, and it did not disappoint, with fans soaking up the action provided by almost 230 competitors.

While Queensland took the win in the Wild Bunch category, the fans were the real winner with two big days of nostalgic racing for them to enjoy with racing also from the Nostalgia Outlaw, Junior Fuel, Slingshot, Gas, Vintage Gas, Hot Rod, Aussie Muscle, US Muscle, Aussie Six Banger, Classic Bike and Outlaw Bike categories (please see this page for race results).

Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton today announced a $10,000 grant to the Central Australian Drag Racing Association to support the club hosting the NT Quarter Mile Titles.

Television Special was a resounding success with the Motorvate Melbourne website getting a massive volume of hits during and after the broadcast plus the Motorvate Melbourne facebook site recieved positive posts supporting the campaign.

Willowbank Raceway has announced changes to the 2011 Castrol EDGE Winternationals pre-event program.

It has been previously announced that from 2011, the event – the largest drag racing event outside of the US – will move to a Friday through Monday format as opposed to its previous Thursday-Sunday schedule.

State pride, the Wild Bunch and nostalgia action is what it will be all about this weekend at Willowbank Raceway, as it revs up with the NITRO! Magazine Nostalgia Nationals.

The last remaining members of the original Aussie Wild Bunch will be on track with a host of other racers to relaunch State of Origin style drag racing, while all of the Nostalgia Drag Racing Association categories will also be on show across the two day event – Saturday August 14 to Sunday August 15.

"Gets ready for new Track"

The end of July saw the end of an era with members from the Steel City Drag Club ripping up their existing drag strip in Whyalla. They are now waiting with anticipation for the installation of their new drag strip with the help from members, sponsors and the general public. Steel City are in the initial planning stages of the new track and do appreciate any assistance in; knowledge, monetary sponsorship, labour any other form of assistance that can be offered.

Jay Upton and his Top Fuel Promotions Team had a mixed season in 2009/10.

In a year that saw the team recover the National Record from New Zealand and set the fastest half track speed in the world this year, Upton was disappointed not to regain the National Title, finishing runner-up in the Championship they have won four times already.
