It all comes down to this. The Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway is the final round for the 2011/2012 ANDRA Pro Series where championships will be decided. For some racers their dreams will come true, for others they will be crushed.

Seattle-based drag racer Brandon Huhtala will be adding an international flavour to Sydney Dragway next weekend when he competes in the Super Stock division of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

The Series brings together the best Australian talent in sportsman drag racing, but it is rare to see overseas drivers take part.

Final preparations are in full swing for the 2012 Nitro Champs and behind the scenes at Sydney Dragway a “show environment” is being created to add some fun family aspects to the thrilling nitro battles on the track.

The event is scheduled to include a diverse range of support attractions including kids rides, dodgem cars, jumping castles, face painters, clowns, arcade games, the Shannon’s Show and Shine, monster truck rides, drag boat and sprint car displays, the CUB Bar, traders – and even the Australian Defence Force will be at the track performing exhibition burnouts.

The Australian National Drag Racing Association is sad to report it has accepted the resignation of CEO Greg Humphreys due to health issues.

Mr Humphreys joined ANDRA in December 2010 and was promoted to the CEO role in July 2011 and has since been very influential through his leadership in the sport, helping direct it through a number of important changes such as the rebranding process, the transition to a calendar year format, greater communication and transparency with our members and bringing new venues into the sport's national series.

Will Australia's home grown team have what it takes?

Following an ANDRA Board meeting on the weekend, Liam Waldron has been officially appointed as chairman of the Board with Greg Griffith the deputy chairman.

Dr Waldron, director of Waldron Solutions Pty Ltd and a lecturer with the Australian National University, has quickly come to terms with the world of drag racing, while bringing in a strategic point of view to activities.

Australian Modified Bike Champion Daniel Sekli is quietly confident as he prepares to race in Modified Bike as part of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway.

Sekli’s first trip to Sydney saw a hiccup when the Queenslander’s Kawasaki ZX-10R suffered engine damage during a pre-race test but the loan of Rapid Bikes Magazine’s Yamaha XJR1300 allowed him to contest the meeting, even if it was at slightly slower pace than he’s used to.

After an engine rebuild by Powerhouse Dynotuning, Sekli took victory at the Willowbank round of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series in January aboard his own 1050cc Kawasaki.
