In what started out as a bad day breaking the clutch, Maurice Brennan spent last weekend heading back to the familiar low six second territory posting a 6.29 in the first round of eliminations, signalling a certain return to form for the World's Quickest Commodore.

“The clutch breakage forced our hand to buy a new one and we started reaping benefits straight-away,” said a somewhat bemused but pleased Brennan.

“We’ve noticed an instant difference in the new titanium clutch compared to the old aluminium one and our thanks must go to Jeffrey Clarke at Sikpac Performance in Mandurah for looking after us so well.”

“Consistent drag racing is about working from a baseline tune-up and making small changes, but the last few events weren’t making any sense at all. But with the new clutch, our second run did everything we expected it to so we feel like we’ve got our baseline back thankfully!”

The blessings in disguise continued for Brennan last weekend with the acquisition of a new transporter after his recent post-race freeway crash that destroyed the team trailer.

“The chequebook has certainly been getting a workout but it’s all gear that is making a huge difference to our team, and once again Jeff Famlonga from Famlonga Building has spent ridiculous hours getting that ready for us so we’re grateful for such great racing partners.”

The KTrans/Carpet Court Joondalup/Crown Integrated World’s Quickest Commodore’s next outing will be back on the national stage as the Boomeracing crew embark on their second attempt to make the eight car field of ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer at the 40th Westernationals on March 5 and 6
