In an exciting development for South Australian motorsport fans, the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) and Racing Onn Promotions have commenced negotiations to bring the ANDRA Pro Series to Adelaide International Raceway on April 14 and 15.

The ANDRA Pro Series is Australia's major drag racing championship and attracts professional teams from around the country.

ANDRA events and operations manager Brenton Myers said he was confident of a successful outcome to the negotiations.

“Racing Onn Promotions and Rino D’Alfonso put together a very successful exhibition event in November that attracted a sell out crowd of over 10,000 people in one day and both parties are really looking forward to bringing the ANDRA Pro Series back to Adelaide,” he said.

It has been approximately a decade since ANDRA championship drag racing has been held in South Australia and fans can look forward to an extravaganza.

Categories are planned to include the nitro dragsters of Top Fuel and the wild supercharged funny cars and dragsters of Top Alcohol.

Fans of two-wheeled speed machines will likely be able to see the Top Bike and Pro Stock Motorcycle divisions on track.

“ANDRA has a commitment to all Pro Series teams to find a home for the rounds that were lost when an Easter event at Willowbank Raceway was cancelled,” Mr Myers said. “It’s now hopefully going to be Adelaide’s opportunity to witness these professional racing teams battling it out for championship points.”

The event will also be open to sportsman racers from Group 2, 3 and 4, though it will not be a points round.

ANDRA will confirm event details no later than Tuesday, 31 January 2012.
