Last month Adrian Geary received the Best Engineered Award in just his first event back behind the wheel after an absence rebuilding his Holden VX Super Sedan into an A/MPA Super Stocker.

During the 44th Westernationals at Perth Motorplex, ANDRA officials noticed the painstaking efforts of the rebuild involving the re-fitting of existing steel panels that had already been cut out originally.

In addition the car uses an LSX as the base engine while several brackets fabricated as part of the chassis have been integrated into the build giving the Commodore a “cohesion” according to ANDRA Technical Officer Colin Brassington.

“After completing a successful two years in the Super Sedan class in 2008/2009 I was ready to move to the next class and undertook, with the help of Mitchell Larner, from WA Performance to rebuild the car so that I could compete in the Group 2 Modified Production class,” explains Geary.

“From that point, I sourced Cronic Customs and their team to do all the fabrication works, and then made the decision to source the engine from Higgins Race development in Victoria.

“After a few years of blood, sweat and tears and long nights it finally came together and we were able to compete at the 44th Westernationals meeting this year.

“Not only was it good to get behind the wheel and compete again, it was an absolute privilege to then find out that I was receiving the Best Engineered Award which topped off what was already a successful weekend.

“There are a number of people I want to acknowledge who have enabled me to fulfil my dream to rebuild AGE01 including; Mitchell and Deb Larner from WA Performance, Adam and Cara and the team from Cronic Customs, Dave Cleary from GAS78 industries, Graham Simms, Shane Ornkey, Glen Baker and my wife Luisa who has stuck by me throughout the whole project.”

The ANDRA Best Engineered Award is presented to the car or motorcycle adjudged to be the best engineered at the three Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series rounds held at the Westernationals, Winternationals and Australian Nationals.
