The ACDelco Nissan 300 ZX of Michael "PATCH" Frossos was out at the Perth Motorplex for Top Fuel Match race on the 20th November 2010.
With the team making some changes leading up to the event it was hoped that the ACDelco Nissan 300ZX would get of the start line with more consistency with the different track conditions. Prior to the race meeting we had changed the gearbox (to try some different ratios in 1st and 2nd), service all the brakes, serviced the rear shocks and repaired the Track locator.
On our first pass we were still trying to tame the PRE horsepower and keep the rear wheel speed down and this is still proving to be a challenge. A 7.47 second 174MPH pass the result.
Second Qualiffier and with some small changes we tried again 7.47 @ 172 MPH getting off the gas early, similar but not great.
On the third Qaulifier a 7.45 @ 180 MPH and most people would be happy, we are still looking for something more.
That put the ACDelco Nissan 300 ZX in forth spot on the qualifing list heading into eliminations.
Durring the between round maintenance it was decided to change back to the other gearbox, this and the usual maintenance was done, and our first race for the meeting saw us up against the the BB/OM of Lee Sanders, with the better reaction time going to Patch he was able to catch the Mazda and get over the line for the win.
For the second round we went out to meet Steve Flynn, with a 7.44 @ 180 MPH the resulting win.
With a Semi Final solo Patch decided to try a small burnout and launch the car, that is when we found server tyre shake and he abourted the run.
So it was the ACDelco Nissan 300ZX in the final against Alan Puglia this will be a very tough ask as Alan was top qualifier running 0.6 of a second under his index.
Patch in stage and was going for the perfect reaction time unfortunately going just before the green and a red light (foul start) the result. The team will be back for the 39th Goldensates on 3rd and 4th Decmeber2010.
