ANDRA is pleased to announce that Extreme Bike will officially join the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series for the first time, beginning at the All Bike Nationals at Dragway at the Bend on October 10.
The 2026/27 Extreme Bike ANDRA title chase will be run across three rounds, utilising the Chicago Shootout format on a Heads-up Pro Tree, with ANDRA Christmas Tree trophies on offer for each event and the championship winner:
- October 10 – All Bike Nationals, Dragway at The Bend
- January 23 – ANDRA Drag Racing Masters, Sydney Dragway
- April 23-24 – ANDRA Grand Finals, Dragway at The Bend
Extreme Bike arrives to the ANDRA series with strong support, with champion racer Joe Khoury of Motorcycle Transport and Repairs getting behind the bracket as sponsor, and the Extreme Bike Association also backing the introduction of these popular bikes to the championship chase.
“Extreme bike racers are like a crazy family, led by Leonard Azzopardi who has ridden in every Bike Class all the way up to Top Bike. His wife Deanne Azzopardi also races an Extreme Bike, and is also making a name for herself,” Khoury said.
“The popularity of the class is growing, and I see it becoming a real fan favourite in Australia. These bikes have the latest technology, equipment, and financial investment behind them, and by running six second passes at over 215 mph on the quarter mile, they bring a whole new meaning to the word ‘extreme!’
“It was definitely a no-brainer for me to get behind it, and I hope that by adding my $1,000 as sponsored prize money on top of the $3,000 ANDRA prize pool it will help create a nice extra incentive for the winner and runner-up of the championship.”
Deanne echoed Khoury’s comments on behalf of the herself, her husband, and the Extreme Bike Association.
“We are really excited about Extreme Bike joining the ANDRA Series,” Deanne said.
“We are so excited in fact, that not only are we actively encouraging all of our members to be a part of it, but we are also going to be putting an extra $1,000 on the line for the highest scoring Extreme Bike Association member* at the end of the three rounds.
“We can’t wait to see everyone out there racing for ANDRA Christmas Trees and to celebrate our first ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series Extreme Bike champion!”
ANDRA CEO Tim McAvaney welcomed the new addition to the Regional Sportsman Series.
