Lance Larcombe will rejoin the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series at the Alice Springs Toyota Desert Nationals, returning to the venue where an important part of his 2023 championship-winning Super Sedan campaign took shape.

The former ANDRA champion – who also claimed the prestigious John Storm Memorial and Harry White Memorial trophies in his 2023 season – will be on-track for the Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID) across August 29-30 after having been concentrating on racing more locally in recent times.

With winning form at the venue, Larcombe is eager to revisit the track as it hosts the opening rounds of the 2026/2027 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series next weekend.

“The Desert Nationals at Alice Springs was where I won my first ever ANDRA Christmas Tree trophy, and from there we went on to win the season and also the John Storm Memorial trophy, so it is a pretty special place to me,” Larcombe said.

“We are looking forward to the road trip to Alice Springs from South Australia for the double-header – it is always a great drive, and we normally do a little sightseeing along the way, this time will be no different. The track always has a great atmosphere too, everyone is happy to be there, and it shows.

“We want to try and follow our past success of course, and catch up with our racing family that we haven’t seen for so long. With two rounds of the championship, it is going to be a great weekend, no doubt about it.”

While Larcombe is not currently planning on a full championship assault this season, the Alice Springs trip is a chance to ease back into national competition at a place that already carries plenty of fond memories.

“I am hanging out for it to be honest, I am really looking forward to it,” he said.

The South Australian explained there has been no major changes to the car since he was last seen on the national scene, with the focus instead on maintenance and a few smaller refinements.

“We have maintained what we have and just refined it a little more with a few odd little tuning changes that we haven’t changed before – it may work, it may go backwards, who knows, we will know on the day!” he laughed.

Larcombe also paid tribute to those helping make the trip possible.

“None of this would be possible without the support of my partner Donna and Alex, Pete and my crew, along with Ryan and Reg from R/T Race Craft, Verdon’s Transport and Overland Locksmiths, so thanks guys!” he said.
