Just three days remain until ANDRA drag racing makes its return to Sydney Dragway, with almost 150 racers from across the country set to thrill race fans at the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters across an action packed one-day program on Saturday January 24.
Alongside the feature acts of the Doorslammer Masters, Pro Mod Masters, Extreme Motorcycle Masters, and Pro Stock, the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters event will feature the penultimate round of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship.
Not only will the Australia Day weekend represent a critical opportunity for racers in all 12 championship brackets of the ANDRA series to shore up their title chances ahead of the ANDRA Grand Final on April 18, it will also represent an opportunity for these competitors to chase up to $20,000 in cash and prizes plus highly-coveted ANDRA Gold Christmas Trees.
As such, race fans at the Saturday January 24 event are guaranteed no end of thrilling performances from the more than 120 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship drivers and riders, with plenty to fight for across the highly talented entry list.
Amongst those lining up to do battle are Rob Church, Ned Karanovic, and Jason Keily.
Church missed out on the Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike victory at the South Coast Nationals at South Coast Raceway by a narrow margin in December and will be looking to go one better on debut in Sydney this weekend.
“I am really looking forward to the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters event – I have never been to Sydney Dragway,” Church said.
“I just missed out on the win at Portland; and I have been qualifying well – I just need to finish the job in this one-day battle to stay high up in the points.”
For South Australia’s Karanovic (pictured above thanks to BrightDesign.com.au), the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters is making a long-awaited return to Sydney possible.
“We have said we would return to Sydney if ANDRA held a championship round and it is now possible for us after 10 years,” said Karanovic, who will compete in South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan with his 1957 Chevrolet Sedan.
“An added bonus for us will be the ability to catch up with some of our travelling racing families, and as always, it is great to meet and race teams in other states.
“I haven’t had the best season so far, but with the opportunity to win a Gold Tree on the line, we had to be there!”
Keily and his ‘The Gambler’ 1934 Ford Coupe will be in action in New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws and is another looking forward to a Sydney return.
“It has been a long time since I raced at Sydney Dragway, and I am really looking forward to getting back on-track there with ANDRA,” said the Melbourne racer.
“The ANDRA Drag Racing Masters is going to be one huge day of racing, action packed for racers and fans alike.
“In New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws we have a great field and it is going to be highly competitive racing as everyone chases those valuable ANDRA series points, Gold ANDRA Christmas Trees, and the prize money that is on offer this weekend.
“I hope to see plenty of fans coming out to enjoy the show!”
Joining the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship on-track at Sydney Dragway on Saturday January 24 will be a host of group one competitors across the Doorslammer Masters, Extreme Motorcycle Masters, Pro Mod Masters, and Pro Stock brackets.
