The tight competition of the Pro Stock drag racing category continues to ramp up with teams calling in reinforcements ahead of the Fuchs Winternationals.

Several teams have allied to bring US engine tuner Rick Watters across the Pacific to assist including Jason Grima, Lee Bektash, Nino Cavallo and Wayne Daley. Watters will also be helping a range of teams from the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

Drag racing fans from Brisbane and interstate will have a chance to get up close and personal with their favourite teams during the Fuchs Winternationals Fan Fest at both the Hyperdome shopping centre in Loganholme and the Riverlink shopping centre in Ipswich on Thursday, 7 June.

With many of the 480 teams rolling into Willowbank Raceway in the week ahead of the event, it will be a great opportunity to take the family out and be a part of the atmosphere of Australia’s biggest drag racing event.

Claiming a new national speed record in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class was just the icing on the cake for Gary Phillips after his Sydney Nitro Champs campaign netted the fifteen time champion a finals berth along with quickest elapsed time (5.471) and top speed (261.07mph/420.15kph) bonus points for the meeting.

The Winternationals in 2011 was something of a drawn out affair, when weather caused the event to be postponed into June. Things weren't much luckier there as the weather moved in and prevented much of the finals being completed. However there were some great images to be had.

The super-competitive drag racing division of Pro Stock will be even more cut throat at the Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway with 26 cars entered for the event.

The field is the largest ever in ANDRA professional drag racing and alongside 50 other professional teams in Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Top Alcohol, Top Bike and Pro Stock Motorcycle will make for one of the greatest shows seen in the sport.
