Nitro Funny Car and new Top Fuel driver Anthony Begley is revving up for Australia’s most loved charity motoring event and some outlandish celebrations taking place in August this year, celebrating 30 years since the Variety Bash began on the dusty roads from Bourke to Burketown, instigated by adventurer, famed philanthropist and Bash visionary Dick Smith.

Richie Crampton powered his GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster to the semifinals while Shane Tucker recorded the first ever 6.4 second pass at New England Dragway qualifying fourth and reaching the second round at the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals on Sunday.

Just over six months ago Chris Porter was celebrating a Top Fuel Motorcycle Championship. Now the current number one is facing a lengthy time on the sidelines and a total rebuild of Fraser Motorcycle.

Australia’s most successful drag racer Gary Phillips has returned from this year’s Winternationals with plenty to smile about, including a new Top Alcohol Funny Car national record, personal best performances in Top Alcohol and Top Doorslammer, and an event runner-up.

One of Australia’s most accomplished drag racing stars, Lee Bektash, has proven to be truly world-class when the Team Mopar Australia pilot dominated the ANDRA Pro Stock timecards at the 2014 Fuchs Winternationals and at the same time, became the world’s fastest naturally-aspirated small block sedan.

The next round of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship heads to the outback on July 19-20 for the Desert Nationals at Alice Springs Inland Dragway.

Super Sedan is always one of the toughest brackets to get a win yet alone a win at the Winternationals. There is always an oversubscribed field and teams need to be at the top of their game potentially for six rounds as was the case at the Fuchs Winternationals just over a week ago.

Thanks to the support of North Coast Wholesale cars and Richmond Valley Council, Summerland Drags will run its second 2014 event on Sunday, June 22 on the Casino airstrip, racing from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

The ANDRA Drag Racing Series returns to Hidden Valley Drag Strip with Top Doorslammer, Top Alcohol and Top Fuel Motorcycle July 11-12, 2014.

Tony O’Connor turned some heads at the Fuchs Winternationals. Those heads just happened to include ANDRA officials as they awarded him the Best Engineered Award for his Ford XD Fairmont.
