An ANDRA sanctioned eighth mile event has attracted rave reviews as drag racing-starved Adelaide residents saw their heroes in action for the first time in years.

With hard work behind the scenes from Racing Onn Promotions' Rino D'Alfonso, the event attracted tens of thousands of spectators to watch what was essentially an exhibition day for the sport.

The Top Doorslammers of the ANDRA Pro Series headlined the event and ran some tough times, with Ben Bray taking the win in the demonstration.

Here are just some of the reviews from the appreciative drag racing fans of Adelaide.

“Wow what a day. I got my $30 worth just meeting all my extended gear head family, friends and associates again, some of them I haven’t seen for 10 years at least. It was a promoter’s dream. Car parks were packed and people parked on the sides of the road for 3km outside the facility. All the grandstands were full and the atmosphere was electric. There must have been way over 10,000 spectators with people still coming in the gates just for the eliminations alone at 7pm. The crowd were whipped into a frenzy by the promoters at the start and then it was all out non stop entertainment for the rest of the day. The drag racing gods were smiling at us at long last. When the Doorslammers and Supercharged Outlaws started up… [censored]. Congratulations to the promoters. I got sunburnt and my ears are still ringing but my god, it was good to feel alive again. All my senses were smashed. Let’s do it again real soon!”

“Well done Rino and the team it was an awesome day, our nine year old daughter got to watch her Dad race for the first time and loved every minute of it. Now she wants him to build her a Junior Dragster.Hope this is the first of many more to come!”

“We travelled from Port Augusta for the drags, we sat in the rain yesterday, hung in there and waited for the sun to shine and the track to dry. Ohhhhh boy once the track was dry and the cars started it was on! Congratulations and a big thank you to all involved. I can not wait for the next event, we will travel to attend again.”

“Fantastic day at the drags! Very well organised and run, thank you so much to each and every person that made this event possible. Promoters, competitors, officials and the sea of volunteers alike……well done! I can only hope that it will now become a regular thing and the drag racing starved public of South Australia can once again get their share of the Kings of Motorsports.”
