The countdown is on to the return of ANDRA drag racing at Sydney Dragway, with more details of the newly named ANDRA Drag Racing Masters on January 24, 2026, now available.

The inaugural ANDRA Drag Racing Masters event will be headlined by big money battles for what are being dubbed as the ‘Extreme Motorcycle Masters’ and ‘Pro Mod Masters,’ while also featuring round seven of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series.

The Pro Mod Masters will see the fastest doored cars on the planet racing in this one day event spectacular for a cash prize of $10,000; while the Extreme Motorcycle gladiators will be competing for a first prize cash purse of $3,000, with further cash prizes also to be announced.

“With such carrots dangling in front of some pretty hugely competitive racers, we are expecting big fields at the ANDRA Sydney Shootout,” ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Tim McAvaney, said.

Melbourne-based Pro Mod world record holder John Ricca has his eyes on the big money at an event he says he “wouldn’t miss for the world.”

“I am really looking forward to chasing more records and hopefully winning the cash!” Ricca exclaimed.

“Thank you to ANDRA and Sydney Dragway for making this event a reality. We will be throwing everything we have at it and I can’t wait to see this event grow and grow in future years as we continue to develop the Pro Mod category in Australia.”

The Extreme Motorcycles Masters will feature the top echelon of drag bike racers in the country, including nitro machines capable of five-second passes (click here for more on eligibility). Amongst the entrants will be former Top Fuel Motorcycle racer, Leonard Azzopardi.

“It is great to have ANDRA racing heading back to Sydney,” Azzopardi said.

“Of late I have noticed that ANDRA are really up to speed with what is happening around the world and more open to change, and Extreme Motorcycle is a part of that.

“To have $3000 on the line for the winner is pretty big, and I think will definitely pique some interest.

“I am definitely looking forward to getting out there and racing for it, that is for sure.

“There are a lot of keen guys in Sydney ready for this and hopefully we can have some travel from interstate too – it is going to be a great event.”

As previously announced, the event will also feature round seven of the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series with large numbers of interstate competitors already committed to racing in Sydney for the first time in more than five years.

“I have waited a long time to race in Sydney again,” said Supercharged Outlaws competitor, Tim Stewart.

“To have ANDRA drag racing back at Sydney Dragway is going to be epic, and I can’t wait to get on track on January 24.”

As ANDRA’s CEO, McAvaney has been working on this event for more than six months and is excited for the Sydney return.

“We have been working on this huge event to match the occasion for some time now,” McAvaney said.

“We wanted to give it the fanfare it deserves after a long absence for ANDRA drag racing in Sydney and we are extremely happy with what we have been able to put together.

“Nominations and ticketing will open shortly, followed by announcements of further plans and initiatives that will need to be kept under wraps for now – we are really looking forward to telling you more when we can.”

Ahead of the January 24 event, ANDRA is hosting a Test and Tune at Sydney Dragway on October 18, including a tech day. For information, visit https://bit.ly/4mH8dqb
