Who is the new leaseholder?

Evolve Facility Management will be the new leaseholder for the Perth Motorplex. Evolve is a subsidiary of the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA), which is recognised as the controlling body of drag racing across the country by Motorsport Australia and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Who will head up the operation of the Perth Motorplex under the new leaseholder?

To ensure the most effective and dedicated management of the facility and both its drag racing and speedway arms under Evolve, experienced motorsport administrator Paul Trengove has been appointed to the position of Commercial and Operations Manager for the Perth Motorplex. Paul has a long background in Speedway, and many years as the Motorsport Operations Manager at The Bend Motorsport Park and with the assistance of the experienced Perth Motorplex staff and volunteers, will be responsible for the management of all aspects of Perth Motorplex event delivery across drag racing, speedway, burnouts, and special events. Thanks to Paul’s background and the current team at the Motorplex, Evolve is well placed to cater for the needs of both Speedway and Drag Racing.

What does this mean for the Perth Motorplex?

Evolve Facilities Management will benefit from and draw on the expertise of its parent company ANDRA, which is well known and well respected within the motorsports community, and their appointment should provide long term assurance and certainty to competitors and motorsports fans around the future of the Perth Motorplex. ANDRA has sanctioned events at the venue for many years and knows the venue and the WA motorsports community intimately, so with their support, Evolve is uniquely positioned to deliver high quality events for competitors and fans. During the transition period, the venue will continue to operate as normal, with no disruption to the racing calendar.

When will the new leaseholder commence as operator?

The new leaseholder is now in place to operate the venue under a transitional arrangement with current venue owner and operator, VenuesWest.

How will the transition happen?

As interim operator, VenuesWest has prepared the 2020/21 season calendar and has been preparing to transition operations with the new leaseholder for several months. Little to no disruption to competitors is expected.

Who owns the venue now?

There is no change to venue ownership. This stays with VenuesWest on behalf of the State Government.

What involvement will VenuesWest continue to have?

Once a thorough transition has been completed, VenuesWest will act as venue owner only.

Will this affect this season’s calendar?

A full calendar of events has commenced under current COVID-19 restrictions. VenuesWest with work closely with the new leaseholder to implement the season’s calendar as it currently stands.

What will happen to the existing Perth Motorplex staff?

Evolve Facilities Management plans to re-engage with the existing staff and their expertise which has been built over many years of operation at the premier Australian motorsport facility.

Will competitor entry fees and costs change?

Competitor entry fees and costs have been frozen for this transitionary season.
