Group Three – Dial Your Own

ANDRA Dial Your Own Handicap System

ANDRA Group Three categories use the “dial your own” (DYO) handicap system, so named because each competitor nominates their own handicap time before racing. Of course if they run faster than the nominated time, they’re disqualified on the “break-out rule”, which is why the first car or bike to the finish line isn’t always the winner. A good reaction time is essential because it can provide a “free” head start. Just because your car or bike is quicker doesn’t mean you can catch up and pass your opponent – because you might break out. Consistency and quick reactions are the keys to DYO success.
