Long time professional Australian Pro Stock Drag Racer; Wayne Daley has signed a deal with Global Tool Manufacturer KC TOOLS and the team are delighted to announce a two year partnership with the tool giant and five other subsidiary companies.
This venture coincides with the teams new purchase of a Don Ness built Pontiac GTO Pro Stocker which landed on Australian soil last week in readiness for the 2008 Castrol Edge Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland, June 5th to 8th.
In addition to KC Tools, Metabo, EWM Hightec Welding, Dupont, Bywise and Diamond T Products have also joined forces with Wayne Daley Motorsport until 2010 in a bid to challenge for the National Championship which features 6 rounds of racing per year with Television coverage on the Nine Network, Fox Sports and SBS.
After stepping away to concentrate on business commitments, Wayne dipped a toe back into the Pro Stock waters again in 2007 and immediately found that Drag Racing hadn’t lost it’s appeal and that he was as focused as ever to pilot the southern hemisphere’s angriest naturally aspirated sedans down the quarter mile.
“This past year was good for us, we purchased the Chevrolet Cobalt in 06 to see if I still had the passion after being away from the sport and we ran into the 7.30’s with a consistent deal, not earth rotating but we were in the field,” Wayne said. “This new car will see us get really serious this season and we’re aiming to qualify towards the top of the field if not in the number one position. The GTO is a state of the art chassis and with new U.S power as well, we’ll be shooting for low teens straight away.”
The Castrol Edge Winternationals is the final round of the 2007/2008 Championship Season and it will be a good opportunity for the KC Tools Pro Stock Team to test their newly acquired hardware in readiness for the first 2008/2009 Championship round; The Australian Nationals in September at Western Sydney International Raceway.
Sharing the Wayne Daley Motorsport pit space and running under the KC Tools banner will be Wayne’s grandson’s Obe and Eden Ward who will contest the highly competitive Junior Dragster category for the first time. “Both boys are new to driving but not to Drag Racing, they’ll do fine” commented an elated Daley.
